Canadian Business Legal Checkup
Ellyn Law LLP has developed a new legal service which will provide an audit of legal matters affecting small and medium sized businesses. Canadian Business Legal Checkup is a diagnostic tool small and medium size businesses could use to verify if legal aspects of their operation comply with the law and also, to minimize risk, litigation and expense. When the Business Legal Checkup is completed, the business owner receives a lawyer’s report red-flagging matters which need correction, improvement or further legal advice. Belinda Elisa Schubert joined Ellyn Law LLP as an associate in 2010.
Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2009, she has appeared as lead counsel in the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. She has also appeared as associate counsel in commercial arbitration hearings and other hearings.
She has developed expertise in the enforcement of foreign judgments and business litigation matters. She is active in litigation and arbitration in all of the firm’s practice areas
Ms. Schubert received her Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University magna cum laude. She was also the recipient of several academic awards. She participated in foreign study at Oxford University and Universiteit Leiden (Netherlands) and took a course in German for Lawyers at the Goethe Institut in Bonn to augment her fluency.
Before embarking on her law studies at the University of British Columbia, she worked as a law clerk in a large law U.S. firm.
At UBC Law School, Ms. Schubert was an assistant editor of the UBC Law Review. She was head of the UBC Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and also volunteered for Universities Allied for Essential Medicines. She is currently active in the Princeton Alumni Association of Canada.
Born in Canada of German parentage, Ms. Schubert speaks and writes German fluently. Belinda also speaks and writes French with considerable fluency.
